Welcoming New Students to Thammasat: Semester 1/2025

International Orientation Day

1 August 2025: Almost 300 international students from around the world gathered at the Sri Burapha Auditorium, Tha Prachan Campus, for Thammasat University’s International Orientation Day for Semester 1/25. The event provided a warm and informative welcome, helping students adjust to their new academic and cross-cultural environment.

The day opened with an inspiring speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, who extended a heartfelt welcome to all new students. In his keynote address, Dr. Supreedee emphasized the importance of cross-cultural understanding and offered essential advice through two engaging talks: “A guidance for New TU friends: “Dos and Don’ts in Thailand” and “All You Should Know About Thammasat”. These sessions introduced students to Thai culture, etiquette, and campus life, encouraging them to embrace their new community with curiosity and respect.

Following the keynote, Dr. Usanee Lertrattananon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs, introduced the Office of International Affairs (OIA) team and regional coordinators. Her presentation highlighted the various support services and resources available to international students, ensuring they feel connected and supported throughout their time at Thammasat.

The morning program also featured valuable sessions from Immigration Bureau officials, who provided detailed guidance on “Visa & Immigration Regulations” and “Application for Visa or Application for Change”. These talks aimed to equip students with practical knowledge to navigate immigration requirements confidently. Dr. Supreedee concluded the morning by introducing upcoming OIA-sponsored events scheduled for the semester.

Cultural and campuses tours

2 August 2024 – International students had the opportunity to explore Thai culture and heritage through guided visits to Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks. The day began with tours of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Grand Palace, Museum Siam, and the National Museum Bangkok.  These visits offered students a multifaceted introduction to Thailand’s historical and cultural legacy – ranging from architecture, mural painting, and stucco arts to culinary traditions, clothing, and ethnological objects.

In the afternoon, students were guided through key facilities at both the Tha-Prachan and Rangsit campuses. Highlights included the underground library, Pridi Banomyong Plaza, the university canteen, Health Center, and gym at Tha Prachan; and the Green Canteen, Sports Center, hospital, dormitories, and Puey Ungphakorn Centenary Hall at Rangsit. These tours provided students with an overview of the vibrant student life and services available across both campuses.
