17 August 2026 – The Office of International Affairs (OIA), in collaboration with Pridi Banomyong International College (PBIC), hosted an interactive cooking workshop titled “Thais Like Kai Jeow: Kai Jeow of Your Own” at Pridi Banomyong Court on Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan Campus. The event was designed to encourage international students to engage in cultural exchange while studying at Thammasat University through a practical culinary experience.
On behalf of Thammasat University, Dr. Usanee Patapsikij Lertrattananon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs, warmly welcomed nearly 100 international students to the workshop. In her opening remarks, she introduced participants to the fundamentals of preparing kai jeow, a classic Thai-style omelet, and encouraged them to experiment with different ingredients to create their own unique taste of Thailand.
The Dean of Pridi Banomyong International College (PBIC) also welcomed the students and encouraged them to enjoy the practical cooking session as well as the truly international learning experience.
Dr. Usanee then led a lively cooking demonstration, presenting a creative practical approach to making kai jeow. She showed students how this beloved Thai dish can be easily recreated in their own kitchens and customized with a variety of ingredients, including spring onion, Thai chili, carrot, and Thai sweet basil.
“Allez Cuisine!” With enthusiasm and creativity, students rolled up their sleeves to prepare their own versions of kai jeow. After cooking, they enjoyed their dishes alongside pad kra pao (Thai basil stir-fry) and Thai deep-fried red sausage, a popular combination in Thai cuisine. The meal concluded with refreshing Thai-style ice cream, allowing participants to relax and savor the flavors of Thailand.
The workshop offered participants an enjoyable and immersive introduction to making Thai-style kai jeow while providing an excellent opportunity to meet new friends from diverse cultural backgrounds. More importantly, it fostered meaningful intercultural connections, enabling students to broaden their global networks, deepen their appreciation of Thai culture, and create lasting memories with friends from around the world.
