This course explores certain topics of the law of the sea, for example, sources of the law of the sea, the legal  status of waters falling within jurisdiction of a state, e.g. internal waters, territorial seas and contiguous  zones, exclusive economic zones, continental shelves, archipelagic waters, straits, bays as well as the legal  status of waters not falling within jurisdiction of the State e.g. high seas and deep sea‐beds. Legal principles  applicable to the delineation of the territorial area of the sea and the settlement of international disputes  within the scope of the law of the sea are also discussed.
