Thammasat joins Diwali Festival Celebration

On 17 October 2025, Assoc. Prof. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, represented Thammasat University at the Diwali Festival organized by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Embassy of India in Bangkok.

The celebration was attended by distinguished guests, members of the Indian diaspora in Thailand and around 130 enthusiastic participants, who gathered to enjoy a vibrant evening of cultural exchange and festivity.

The event featured music, dance, and a variety of performances that captured the spirit of Diwali — the festival of lights and harmony. An insightful academic talk titled “Diwali in Today’s World: Shared Heritage across Southeast Asia” was delivered by Dr. Shweta Sinha, Assistant Professor of Environmental Technology at Pridi Banomyong International College, Thammasat University.

During the celebration, Dr. Supreedee joined participants in lighting the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the triumph of light over

darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. He also expressed appreciation for the enduring cultural and educational ties between Thailand and India, reflected through mutual participation in such meaningful events.
