On 31 July 2026, nearly 200 international students from around the world gathered at the Cheed Sreshthaputra Room (LT.1), Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus, to participate in the International Orientation Day for Semester 1/2026. The event provided a warm welcome and practical guidance to help new students settle into life at Thammasat and in Thailand, supporting their successful transition into a new academic, social, and cross-cultural environment.
The program opened with welcoming remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, who encouraged students to embrace their new life at Thammasat with confidence and enthusiasm. Dr. Usanee Lertrattananon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs, then introduced the OIA regional coordinators and outlined the wide range of support services and resources available to international students. Her presentation emphasized the University’s commitment to ensuring that every student feels welcomed, connected, and well supported throughout their journey at Thammasat University.
Following the opening session, Asst. Prof. Edward B. Geerson from the Language Institute of Thammasat University delivered essential advice through two engaging talks: “A Guide for New TU Friends: Dos and Don’ts in Thailand” and “All You Should Know About Thammasat and Visa & Immigration Regulations.” The sessions emphasized the importance of cross-cultural understanding while introducing students to Thai culture, local etiquette, campus life, and key visa and immigration requirements, helping them adjust smoothly to their new surroundings.
The orientation continued with an interactive session, “Introduction to Thai Language,” led by Ajarn Warachaya Liaotianchai, Head of the Thai Studies Program at Pridi Banomyong International College. The session provided students with a foundation in everyday Thai expressions, helping them communicate more confidently and navigate daily life in Thailand with greater ease.
The morning program concluded with an overview of the wide range of OIA-sponsored activities and events planned throughout the semester, presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk.
In the afternoon, the program wrapped up with campus tours, giving students the opportunity to visit notable landmarks and key facilities at both the Tha Prachan and Rangsit campuses.
Overall, the International Orientation Day fostered meaningful connections among students while equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to thrive academically and personally. By helping students build confidence, establish support networks, and gain a deeper appreciation of Thai culture, the program laid a strong foundation for a rewarding and enriching experience at Thammasat University and in Thailand.
