On 17 October 2026, the Office of International Affairs at Thammasat and Pridi Banomyong International College, in collaboration with Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), organized a check dam reconstruction and reinforcement activity at Yai Da Mountain in Rayong Province. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable watershed management, conserve natural resources, and strengthen environmental awareness through community engagement.
The event opened with remarks by Dr. Usanee Patapsikij Lertrattananon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs at Thammasat University, who underscored the importance of environmental conservation and responsible resource management. She also highlighted the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in fostering collaboration between educational institutions, the private sector, and local communities to advance sustainable development.
Working closely with local communities and conservation experts, nearly 50 international students took part in hands-on activities that combined community service with learning about local environmental wisdom and sustainable practices, including a briefing by a local expert on water management challenges, while developing teamwork, environmental stewardship, and volunteerism skills.
Beyond its environmental impact, the program contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), reflecting Thammasat University’s commitment to sustainable development through meaningful community engagement.
