Thammasat and CUHK explore academic ties

On 24 October 2025, Thammasat University welcomed representatives from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), to its Tha Prachan campus to explore potential avenues for faculty-level partnership opportunities.  

Dr. Usanee Patapsikij Lertrattanon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs, hosted the hybrid meeting with Prof. Anthony SO, Dean of the Graduate School at CUHK, along with Graduate School officials. On Thammasat’s side, executives from the Faculties of Learning Sciences and Education and Medicine participated in the on-site discussions, while representatives from the Faculty of Engineering and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies joined the discussion online. 

During the session, the CUHK delegation delivered an insightful presentation outlining the university’s key initiatives and areas of excellence. The presentation highlighted CUHK’s global ranking, key student statistics, and outstanding research strengths in key areas such as China: Tradition and Modernity, Information and Automation Technology, Environment and Sustainability, and Innovative Biomedicine.  

A central focus of the meeting was potential faculty-level partnerships. The Thammasat Engineering School expressed an interest in establishing 3 +1 or 3 +2 collaborative degree models. The Faculty of Medicine explored further collaboration in joint research and student exchanges in the fields of Public Health and Nursing. The College of Interdisciplinary Studies proposed academic cooperation in double degree programs, joint seminars, and student exchanges, while the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education discussed possibilities of staff mobility and joint research. Additionally, joint seminars were proposed by Pridi Banomyong International College as well.  

Dr. Usanee also emphasized the potential of university-level academic cooperation, particularly in short-term internship opportunities for students from both institutions.
