Thammasat and UNSW Discuss Expanding Academic Ties

On 23 June 2026, Thammasat University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chayakrit Asvathitanont, Vice Rector for Human Resources, welcomed a delegation from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, at Thammasat’s Rangsit Center. Joining the meeting were executives from the Thammasat Institute of Area Studies (TIARA), a representative from the Thammasat School of Engineering, as well as the Counsellor and senior officials from the Australian Embassy.  

During the meeting, the UNSW delegation presented an overview of the university, highlighting its academic profile, student population, and a broad range of programs. They also showcased UNSW’s key strengths in applied education, applied research, and transnational education.  

In response, Thammasat presented its academic vision, teaching and research excellence, and strategic initiatives. The presentation also highlighted the Eastern Economic Corridor Medical Center (EECmd) at Thammasat’s Pattaya Campus, along with the Thammasat School of Engineering’s engineering and innovation programs offered within  the China Education Expo (CEE) initiative. 

Both universities acknowledged the success of the existing faculty-level collaboration with the Thammasat School of Engineering and expressed a shared commitment to expanding cooperation at the university-level. Potential areas of collaboration include joint and dual degree programs, UNSW Online global programs in Software Development and Cyber Security,  professional credential programs, and blended learning pathways. 

The Thammasat delegation also expressed its interest in co-developing undergraduate and graduate programs, with a particular focus on capacity development through executive education and professional certificate courses. Additionally, both sides identified strategic opportunities for collaborative research in sustainability, economic and social development, technology, innovation, and regional studies, while also exploring expanded student and staff exchanges and internship opportunities. 

This visit reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between Thammasat University and UNSW and marked another important step toward building a broader and more sustainable long-term academic partnership.
