Thammasat reaffirms long-standing partnership with Soka University

On 4 November 2025, Thammasat Rector, Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, hosted a meeting at the Tha Prachan campus with Prof. Mika Suzuki, President of Soka University, along with deans, directors and senior officials from the Japanese institution. The visit also marked the 40th anniversary of the academic partnership between the two universities. Joining the Thammasat Rector in welcoming the delegation were the Dean, Vice Dean, and executives from the Faculty of Liberal Arts.

During the meeting, Rector Supasawad highlighted that in 2026, Thammasat will launch a new Bachelor of Science in Sustainability Management, a multidisciplinary program jointly developed by five Thammasat faculties: the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Faculty of Social Administration, the Puey Ungphakorn School of Development Studies, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Thammasat Engineering School. The program aims to provide hands-on training and prepare undergraduate students for emerging workforce demands.

Currently, Soka collaborates at the faculty-level with the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Thammasat in the field of social sciences. During the meeting, Thammasat proposed expanding this cooperation into additional areas, particularly engineering and health sciences. The Faculty of Liberal Arts also expressed interest in exploring trilateral cooperation with Soka University and a partner university in the Philippines, focusing on joint seminars and academic initiatives.

Additionally, Thammasat proposed the development of short-term internship programs, emphasizing the importance of strengthening internship opportunities to enhance students’ practical experience and global exposure.
